Hi all. Have a couple of sheets and cards of German issues such as below. Have not seen this format before. Are they post office issued cto sets/singles? The full sheet/card is followed by a close-up of 1 stamp on it so you can see the cancel. Cancels dates are the same on each sheet/card Any help appreciated. To me they look like what I call "favor cancels." I've seen some U.S. postal workers (no names . . . OK, my Dad) do similar things for friends. I've often wondered if that isn't how many of the "cut squares" come into being also.
Bobgggg - Philb - I'm interested in what you think also. |

Also, it might be interesting to compare the cancel dates to the release dates of the individual issues. |

Mike.. Except for the DDR, I don't recall Germany issuing CTO stamps.
I'm leaning towards a favorable cancel also. A German collector who collects used stamps, may have purchased the stamps, affixed them to a sheet, goes to the local PO, has them cancelled, and soaks them off. [ just a wild guess ]
Have you asked John ?

Bobgggg & Greg...Thanks for your answers. I was thinking along the same lines, a favor cancel collection. Will soak and list them on my site when I get a chance. Greg, since I have your want list already, I will check it first before listing. Happy Stamping, everyone! |

Bobgggg...spoke with John in Canada. He says 'favor cancels'. So will use that when I list then. |

That sounds good to me! I hope I have something to trade with you! If not, I can probably swipe a few greenbacks from my wife's purse while she's sleeping. |

Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Romania, Russia and US singles, mint and used US plate blocks, and I have two Worldwide albums. I have extra Hungary and Czech. stamps to trade. I also need help on finding pages for my albums. Is there some way to download Scott pages for any albums? Thank You for your help in advance. Happy Stamping Wilamay |

Hi and welcome to the forum. There are several programs which will let you print your own album pages, Perhaps the experts here can recommend one that will go well with your collecting interests. Would love to see pictures of your stamps |

to the family Wilamay! I build my albums using: http://www.stampalbums.com/You can go there and see what the pages look like. A subscription is $20 a year and you can download and print as much material as you would like. I just buy good and heavy acid free paper from Office Depot and put the pages in a nice 3-ring binder. It works out great! Again welcome. I hope you'll be able to post some pictures of your collection. |
