As 'alanl' notes, misregistration on the 12c-32c photogravure QE II stamps are common and can produce some interesting results.

There also can be different "quality" of impressions.

Here are illustrations of poor (left) and good (right) quality and shifts producing blue (top) and grey "doubling" ... but doubling has not occurred. It is just a common shift.

The mole on the jaw could be my dot on the chin?
I think I`m right when I say that the stamps were printed
with photogravure, lithography and recess.
I haven`t spent too much time looking at the background.
I`ve just been looking for dots and scratches.
It`s interesting to note the stamps above.
The difference in the background between left and right.

Darnell calls this the Beauty Mark. Unitrade calls it the crying Queen.
I`ve come across 9 copies.

Back in November 2008 I visited the Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa.

I viewed the press sheet of the 32c QEII, BABN printing, Plate 2.

BABN used two colour photogravure and one colour engraving.

Here is a digitally re-created image:

As was typical of BABN printings of the time, there are 6 panes of 100 subjects per cylinder revolution. The left 3 panes are field stock (without inscriptions) while the right 3 panes are philatelic stock (with inscriptions).

A very faint "crying Queen" variety (illustrated here previously by 'alanl') is found at position 89 of the upper right pane.

The "goatee" variety is at position 55 of the lower left pane.

At the time I was not aware of the other dots/dashes/etc. that 'alanl' is illustrating here. Wish I had known of them ... it would be great to pinpoint their location on the press sheet (if they were there at the time of the original printing).

Thanks for that great picture studystamps. I suspect the black
plate had problems perhaps on the last run and this caused a lot
of the black dots. Found 2 more beauty marks today!

This one has a vertical line extending down from last A. It could
be just a smear but all my copies have the line in the same exact
place. I have 16 copies.

Here is the largest constant flaw found on the 32c Queen, but it does require a UV light (Unitrade 792vi).
