Here is a nice first flight from Lakehurst, NJ to Frankurt-am Main Germany, via the one and only HINDENBURG Zepplin.

Postmarked sent New York May 11th 1936 and arrival postmark on rear Frankfurt imain May 14th 1936.

I was going through one of my boxes looking for another item I will post if I ever find it.... but found this instead. Enjoy!

Very nice. From the American Air Mail Catalog:

"Z-404, May 6-14 -- 1st North American Flight Visiting the Third International Philatelic Exhibition @ NY.

This trip marked the first visit [of the Hindenburg] to the US and was timed to coincide with the 3rd International Philatelic Exhibition being held in the Grand Central Palace, NY. Both the German and US PO Depts provided special cachets and/or backstamps... Canada made an official dispatch of mail through the Lakehurst PO."

I was always fascinated by the zeppelin covers.

There are so many cachets and special cancellations out there.

About two years ago, I purchased the "Siegar - Verlag Zeppelin Post Katalog" listing all the known types. What bothers me the most is thw price one is expected to pay for a great deal of these covers.
