I picked
these up a few weeks ago, and I thought I'd share because they tell a nice little story.
In 1898, a German family decided to move to German New Guinea in an effort to find a climate more conducive their health issues. Throughout the journey, one member of the family (Frederich) sent postcards home, which someone thankfully saved.
The first leg of their journey, Bremen to Sydney, was on the SS Friedrich der Große of the Norddeutscher Lloyd line.

A year after arriving, Fred sent an update on his health and a query as to why he hadn't heard from his relatives in Wiesbaden.

Over the next 5 years, the family discovered that the climate in German New Guinea was not ideal. In 1903, the family decided to return to Germany -- the younger members for a visit and the elder members to stay permanently. The once again sailed the Norddeutscher Lloyd line, this time on the SS Oldenburg. And of course, Fred was busy writing.

Finally, in 1904, the younger members of the family were back in German New Guinea, where Fred wrote to give his new address.
