Simpson's Postal Markings was one of the first books I ever bought that focused on the 1851 era of stamps. Terrific resource. I can't remember how many nights I spent with that book.

Excellent! ^^^
Glad to hear that.
It took me some years to finally settle into a collecting focus.
I'm fortunate my obsession landed in an area with many resources for study.

I gave a friend my cover with the Boston, double line cancel.
Was able to pick up this fair example, inexpensively.

Not a great strike of either marks, but a clean place holder.

Rene-

If you are referring to your post of your Scott #35 and #36d (Montreal 12X 12 1/4), you are in the right thread. what you did is exactly what I set out to do when I started this thread which was for everyone to share nice scans of their recently (whatever recent means) purchased stamps.

btw- They DO look nice.

Happy to have found these:

First a postcard from Monaco with an 1938 Postes overprint stamp.

Second: A 1917/18 1 cent on 4 cent overprint stamp from the Dutch Indies. Single use on cover. from Bekassi to Weltevreden. both places close together in what is now Jakarta. On it self not an exepensive stamp but single use on cover is pretty difficult to find.

Recently I purchased large lot on eBay - mostly inexpensive classic Germany and some cheap full sheets. However, the most interesting sheet was from Allied Occupation period. I was lucky that zooming into eBay image allowed me to see (barely) HAN code: "6018.48 1".
According to Michel just 2 HAN stamps are valued at 700 euro. I guess that it is not fake

I don't know if you can read french. On the Monaco cover the slogan cancel translation in english is "Monte Carlo, a climate for all sports". Easy one!
Love both covers. Great catch. Daniel
