I started collecting stamps when the family carpenter started sending me and my brother Artcraft FDC's of new United Nations issues. I believe the first was the UPU issue. I was so entralled eith thr neatly cancelled stamps and wonderful designs, I became an instant United Nations collector and sent a typewritten letter at age 7 to New York. In about a week I received a response with the UNPA officisl envelope and the 8c definitive showing the UN Headquarters in Manhattan. In the 1970's I was one of the very few JPA members under the age of 13 who hsd a philatelic dealership. I sold the new issues by subscription of Canada, Great Britain, Channel Islands. IOM,Tuvalu, Australia, Norfolk Island (both sold by Greg Manning), all the Crown Agents Countries (including Portugal), Sweden, RSA, SWA (and homelands), French Territories and Nigeria. I sold part time and on weekend shows organized by Ed Rosen in the Bay Area until by Junior Year in High School. I graduated to the APS as a Junior member in 1979 and this year is my 40th year of membership. I started full time in 1996 and online in 1997 and now have a collectibles website st Lovecollecting(dot)com.
