I think of these as pure fantasy rather than a micronation. Not that micronations aren't mostly delusional in their own right, but there is usually a person or persons, and a patch of ground in which a flag has been planted, literally or figuratively.

In this case, although a "map" exists, the creation is entirely in the mind of the artist sitting in his studio (as far as I know), which is nowhere near the lines on the map. At least in the case of places like Sealand and Seborga, the guys actually tried living there.

I don't say this in an attempt to come up with a precise definition of micronation...just my 2d.

C.

But what I really want to know is where do they go to have their stamps printed because they always look so real. Not that I'm going to create my own micro-nation, lets see Rioville, Rioland, Rioterre. I can be Emperor Ray.

You can be Emperor Ray from Wrio !

Your 8 little Birds have turned this into an interesting topic.
For me, these items are Bogus.
Micronation is quite a loose term which is why it is not universally used. And let us not forget the term is relatively new [Circa 1970].

Mr Henderson did try to con the public and other higher echelons of the Postal world with his 'postage stamps'. For this reason they are bogus. Much like the stamps of Staffa, an Island that has been uninhabited since the 18th Century and yet still needs a Postal service !
Rev mentioned Lundy as being a Micronation. If the term had existed in the early 1920's when 'King' Harman purchaesd the Island, collectors would have been forgiven for thinking that it was just that. But it soom became clear that a real local post service was being operated and has to this day.

I once paid for another'King' who resides in a Sydney suburb to mail a letter for me in his local letter box. For this he printed stamps.
[Nice design though].

Bogus,Micronations,Locals and Fantasies are all intertwined and each and every one has their own ideas on what they mean.

Thanks Emperor Ray for this topic.

Occussi-Ambeno is a real place but not a nation. It is the western enclave within he nation a East Timor on the island of Timor. The New Zealander behind this sultanate is a printer of stamps.

A Cindy by any other name is still a Cindy.
It there were no Cindy's. 1/4 of my collection would disappear.
Then what would I do with all those pages and glassine envelopes.

Occussi-Ambeno, place in the mind of an artist. But this person is not one artist of any, is an philatelic artist!.

Known the perforations, known the first day covers ... he has a plantation of fungi hallucinogen! .... for me it is a master in the creation of fictitious countries stamps.

Many philatelic services today do not have as much creativity as this artist.

I have a link of a online catalogue of this stamps .... it's fascinating. (when arrive to home, put this link)

Regards
David
