Oldest US Stamp

Cancelled1, the Traveler album is small, about 150 pages (stamps go on boths sides so double that for actual space), and arranged alphabetical by country. It has spaces for stamps the "beginning collectors are most likely to own or acquire," which means the more common, cheaper stamps. It is not close to being complete for any one country, let alone having spaces for all the stamps ever produced.

I think it is a good early choice, at 20 bucks, for a beginner. It won't take long, though, before you will run out of space for some countries.

Cancelled, if you're only interested in US stamps, you might want to consider a used Harris Liberty album. They have photos of all US stamps produced and are only on one side of the page. Of course, many of them date from the 1970's, so it wouldn't include recent stamps.

One sold on E-bay this past week for $10 + $8 shipping.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was thinking of filling up my older stamp album with the stuff I collected as kid(1960s-70s) since it's dated 1979 and older and get a second album for newer stuff. I'm not particular to just U.S stamps I'll take whatever I can get!

Well, since Justcarl gave his collection of stamps from the '50's up to someone else -sorry justcarl, I just had to whine about it.I'd say my oldest stamp is a WW II stamp that I will dig out and post. We found aN OLD letter in the street one day and it was from a soldier from WWII writing to his wife to tell her he loved her and their little girl. We just happened to look in the phone book and found a name, called it, and it was the wife. The spouse had passed away. Unfortunately she was of ill health and we were never able to meet with her to return the letter. BTW, her kids had thrown out all the stuff they didn't want and the letter had flown off the garbage truck!
