I am new to postcard collecting, it is an extension of my stamp collecting and interest in postmarks. I have started picking up postcards that are directly related to Route 66 for example: Large letter Greetings From Route 66, motels, restaraunts, kitschy roadside attractions, etc. One of the best known artists of Route 66 is Robert Waldmire. He does pen and ink sketches that are chocked full of information. He has a set of 60 plus cards featuring all 8 states route 66 runs through. Anyway, I am getting a little long winded so I'll cut this short.

Dude:
Do you have a postcard showing a close-up of the route through Texas?

David, Here is that Texas postcard and Arizona as well. I had them scanned in together for a posting elsewhere. I'll see what else I can find. |

Recently stumbled across this scanned postcard off of a nostaglia website. Thought I'd post it for Route 66 enthusiasts ... looks to be quite an old timer. Based on the appearance of the car, I'd guess late 1930's. Also note that if you blow up the image, you'll see that the building also housed the Post Office!: |

i wish I could find a 66 card for you I would send it..for some reason the post card shows charge admission $4.00 each..where the stamp shows do not..i would not mind going to a postcard show but not at 8.00 for the two of us..so I have to keep searching the flea markets !! |

Thanks Phil. I've been to plenty of stamp shows where dealers carry postcards. Unfortunately for me, route 66 is a popular subject and the prices can get high. Plus you have to check the back of most cards for location and description saying it was on 66. I usually go thru the State category first, there's more lurking there then under the topic Route 66. |

Great Thread Stamperdude! I love the old Route 66 memorabilia! I remember driving Rote 66 betw Rolla and Fort Leonard Wood after first getting my driver's license. That area was not for the faint of heart because it had that old curbing on the sides--if you were a new driver it was a hard area to drive thru! Gussyboy1 |

GB1, Good to see you posting again. I know the curbing you speak of, we drove that section last year. I'll have to scan more postcards and post them. |
