The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has announced the upcoming "30 YEARS OF A WORLD LIVING WITH AIDS" stamps will be the first self-adhesive Stamps issued by the UNPA.

Although the stamps aren't yet listed on the UNPA website, it is featured in the latest Philatelic Bulletin (#99).

UNPA Philatelic Bulletins are available as (large) PDF Downloads from this page of the UNPA website:

As an addendum to my original post... I know Self-Adhesive (SA) stamps are a pain for collectors, but UN stamps might be an exception.

I'm willing to bet that 95% of the people who collect UN stamps collect them in MINT condition, not used. And those who aren't collecting mint, are collecting FDC and stationary directly from UNPA. I doubt soaking UN stamps will ever be the issue it is with other postal administrations.

I agree about the mint versus used collecting of UN postage stamps. I also would imagine that because of the relatively scarcity of used UN stamps on other than philatelic mail, most would keep the cover (or at least the corner cut of the stamp and postmark) as a collectible and not attempt to soak the stamp off the paper backing.

I would be curious if they are using the same standard as the US Postal Service or if they have other vendor(s) providing the products.

I suppose this is an expected transition for a postal agency, but it stands to reason that the technology is more expensive than traditional gummed stamps and I just wonder how it fits into the UNPA's bottom line.
