This question was generated by the another thread. The most I spent on a single stamp in 2011 was my U.S. Scott #2, Old George. I was offered this stamp for $425.00 by a fellow SCF Member and I jumped on it. I'm very happy with my purchase and he & Ben look good together. However, this is not the most I have ever spent on a stamp.

BTW, I am NOT suggesting anyone state the actual amount they spent on the stamp unless they want to. Just the picture or description will do.

Great stamp at a great price, Art! Your #2 is far better than mine!

The most I have spent on any one item, this year, was a US 245, $5 Columbian for $311 (picture unavailable) but have purchased lots and collections for more. The bulk of my purchases this year have been 20th century mint stamps from US, Canada, and Germany. I decided back in January that those pages in my albums were far too sparsely populated. It has been a wake-up call as to how many $50+ stamps there are in this era ...

Because my wife knows how to use google, I will simply read and enjoy this thread, rather than contribute.

Very nice #1 and #2!

OK, OK, you called me out. In reality, I don't recall making any big-ticket purchases this year. Yes, honey, you read that correctly.

Meanwhile, since I've finally found my scanner power adapter, let me check my list for this year...

I got this stamp at the nationl precancel convention in August.
It doesn't look like much but it is one of the rarer California precancels. I especially wanted it because my daughter just bought her first home - in Mar Vista, CA. Price for stamp was 400$, price for house was stratospheric.

Very, very nice addition Art, thanks for sharing them.

I've been after one of these for a while, #143L4 unused with good margins, paid $175.00 for it.

hmm...I have quite a few actually so I can't pin down just one readily. Probably would be my #68 & 68 Proof, #70(hasn't arrived yet) 73 & 73 proof 2x#113's, 2x#114's (one on cover), #113, #115 2x#116's.. not to mention all the other stuff, like souvenir sheets (National park/Farley's) and mint sheets (like the Bicentennial flags and the Bicentennial #1688,1689)and ALL of the Revenue stamps and Columbian Expo stuff..here are just a FEW images of a fraction of the stuff I got this year. I'm actually sort of impressed by what I bought this year..Notice that some of this stuff was donated to me by some of you too so I thought I'd put them up as well since it's all intermingled now. Enjoy-

It looks like almost all my purchases this year were for items at the medium/low end. Only a handful of higher-value items. At this point, I only enter in catalog value in my database, not how much I paid for it; don't want to leave any evidence for...

Of the 2011 purchases I've cataloged so far, number one is, oddly enough, a US stamp! US #95.

Not the prettiest thing; I take what I can afford. Looks like a silverfish may have munched out a little bit on the top perf or two, and the postman couldn't find a sharpie so they let loose with a handy cork and ink pad.

Did I mention I don't actively collect US anymore? Not sure why I bought it. Must be this "buy American" craze going on.

My 2011 Scott catalog says $1000 for VF (which mine is not). I understand it has gone down to $900 in the 2012 Scott. They must have heard that I got one, and decided it couldn't possibly be that valuable if k has one.

Anyway, number 2 and 3 on the list are these two Canadian stamps.

Canada #70-71. $375 and $325, respectively, for MNH. #70 is still a couple steps away from VF, but they'll fill in the holes in my Lighthouse Canada album. Since I finally got my Unitrade and Lighthouse hingeless last year, I've started working on my Canadian stamps again.

Geez, my most expensive stamp.... about .72 cents $20 bucks for 28 Great White North stamps = .714286 each, so one of these is my most expensive stamp for 2011. I did some trades but not much cash left my wallet.

The most I've ever paid for a stamp was this year's purchase of this US Scott 1 (it came with a PSE cert) for $147.87.
