No, your point is that it's okay to enrich yourself unjustifiably at the customer's expense by overcharging on the shipping and handling, as long as the customer agrees to it.

Nowhere did I say that. Do not put words in my mouth.

Make that, more specifically, "It's okay for one to enrich oneself in a way that may be seen as unjustifiable at the customer's expense by overcharging on the shipping and handling, as long as the customer agrees to it."

That would seem to be your point, or even more specifically, it comes out to people can charge what they like, and if a buyer agrees to buy, no justification is needed (i.e., "[I]t's none of the buyer's business" why the charges are what they are".) to explain these charges.

You figure in an inflated cost for your time

Sorry, but my time is worth every single penny of $15 an hour. In fact, it's cheap. It's also no ones business but my own. I'm far from selfish either, I spend 20 hours a week on this site and you know what it made last month after my approximately 80 hours? $14. So how about I stop "inflating" my hourly rate and charge everyone here $5 a month for this forum. There's 160 members or so that have posted in the last 2 months, figuring only them would pay that come to $10 an hour. Is that OK or am I still earning too much in your eyes?

See, the whole problem is that you seem to be taking this whole thing personally. It was never meant to be an attack on you, but you seem to have taken it that way from the outset of my introduction of the topic.

Break it down like this:

1. Are there people who gouge on the s&h charges on ebay?

2. If the answer is "yes", then I have the right to express my displeasure with this practice.

3. Does every seller gouge on the s&h charges on ebay?

4. If the answer is "no", then those who don't are going to be the ones that get my business.

It's not a matter of what YOU do. It's a matter of what OTHERS do, as it turns out. There was no need for you to launch a crusade on behalf of all ebay sellers, both those who charge fairly and those who don't, and let's be honest -- you do realize that some people do gouge on these charges.

Probably a better original answer would have been, "Yes, you really have to check and see if the charges are reasonable; it's unfortunate that a few bad actors can have the effect of ruining it for those who are being fair, but maybe their charges are justifiable, all things considered."

N'est-ce pas?

I am pretty fed up with EBAY I used to sell stamps for like .02 each plus actual postage and fees. People would get on me for being greedy. These were hard to find stamps and sometimes the lots would be ridiculous when they ended...I don't get it and now there is the mandatory paypal...it just isn't fun anymore

Come on already! In the past week the amount of sellers with outrages shipping charges has doubled. Most that were always $1.00 to $1.50 are now at $3.00 to $4.00 on average. What triggered this rant look here. http://cgi.ebay.com/sierra-leone-go...nh_W0QQitemZ a href= /go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/150323008484 target= _blank rel= nofollow 150323008484 /a QQihZ005QQcategoryZ73229QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Of course if the $14.50 for one stamp is not enough post he does offer insurance for another $2.50 for a total of $16.50 to ship one stamp.

Hi Folks....

Bottom line here is.....if you don't like what sellers post for shipping charges......do not bid.

If enough people refuse to pay the outreageous charges sellers won't sell enough to stay on ebay.

Actually, there is a taker !
It has been re-listed at 99c and has started to move.

He will be losing out on this one having paid a huge listing fee.
The explanation is also rather funny.
As are the stamps.....great corner perfs

Ok maybe it is the wind but I only saw 4 very common us airmail stamps. I don't get upset on the postage and handling fees. I just don't buy when I feel the charges are too high. Why complain there are many sources for stamps.

No complaints here that is just too funny.

To figure currency conversion.

$400,000.00 AUD = $266,680.48 USD

Australia Dollars United States Dollars
1 AUD = 0.666701 USD 1 USD = 1.49992 AUD

Maybe someone down there will go over and strangle him.

It was a good one Larry, I just hope he really made a mistake or he is just in the wrong business.

For others as you can see from above why many purchases I make are from Australia.
The Aussies love our dollars right now.

What BS for maybe a dollar's worth of common airmail stamps.

I think it was the excessive postage of $8 AUD that turned people off
