Last year on 11-11-11 I posted 6 covers to non existing address. as registered post and all of them came back properly.
Countries and date the mail reached back .
1)Libya:19-Nov-2011
2)USA :12-dec-2011
3)Australia:15-Dec-2011
4)UK : 29-dec-2011
5)Canada:5-Jan-2012
6)Congo:5-March-2012
Here the Cover to Libya Didnt departed India and I got it with the "SERVICE SUSPENDED" Cancellation
The coverto canada got damaged as they used sticker over elephant stamps.
The most beautiful was the US "RETURNED TO SENDER" cancellation

Now thats a way to create some interesting pcs. Not sure if you want to try but I believe Canada Post stickers usually are made to be peeled off - I occasionally get an add postage sticker that is easily removed. Don't do it unless your OK with possible damage though.

What a great experiment. You must have had postal workers in those six countries running for some time. The pointing finger is great, and has been around for a while.
These are called auxiliary markings and can take many forms and uses. The Libyan cover has some in blue, and I think your 'Registered By Air Mail' rubber stamps would qualify as well.
There's actually an Auxiliary Markings Club (of course there is...there's a club for everything)
Check them out at

Well, I think I know what I'll be doing on 12/12/12! Nice one.

Thankyou friend for the reply.
I was not expecting this cancellation from the Libyan cover so that I made one more post to the same address to get a clear cancellation and got it ..
Any of you interested in "SERVICE SUSPENTED, Returned to Sender" postmark please sent it to any Libyan address and make a trial.
