Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they are margarine taxation stamps.
If so, why did they do the hole punch designs?

I LOVE those tobacco revenues! I'm not sure why the perfins on the oleo margarine revenues but I bet someone like revenuecollector could tell you perhaps? Official use maybe or could be just how they was cancelled? Great items! Thanks for showing them.

Impressive group of wines and tobacco tax stamps. The only tobacco stamps I have are in pieces on a cigar box, the stamp being placed perpendicular to the box and lid so it tears when the box is initially opened.

Oh I've got bunches and bunches of revenue lots, many of which are still as obtained, that I've not gotten around to doing anything with yet.

Thanks for guiding me in the right direction with the margarine revenues. We have so many odds and ends it is ridiculous! This thread will be invaluable to me shortly...You'll see what I mean.

That is heart breaking! I assume they are too old to carefully be dug away from the boxes? I wonder if someone somewhere has a horde of unused stamps that go on the boxes...

I am green with envy! The comprehensive collection of revenues you have must've taken forever to pull together. Even a newbie can appreciate the quality of work that has gone into your collections. I have quite a few stamps that look similar to those you have posted. If need be, can you help me with identification of some? IE: How on earth did you figure out the difference between the two R46b and R47c? They look the same to me!

It's true, we're a house hold full of vices, but we've turned them into an incentive program. :D

Are you talking about the stamps in the above pictures? Those were identified by someone else prior to my purchase.

As far as R46b versus R47c, not only are those different designs, but different types of those designs:

R46 = 25 cents Insurance
R47 = 25 cents Life Insurance
b = part perforate (perforated on only two opposite sides)
c = perforated on all sides
