I heard a rumor that the imperfs will NOT be listed in Scott, only footnoted. The reason for not listing is the limited availability, only being available at philatelic sales. If this is true then why are the bugs bunny imperfs Scott 3138 and the other imperfs of that series listed with MAJOR SCOTT numbers. It would seem to me that a catalog should have one set of rules for listing stamps.
The only true reason for not listing these should be if they are NOT valid for postage. Otherwise there eventually should be a major listing for the the baseball imperfs of 2012. This story is just beginning. |

The Bill Pickett Error also has a major listing. If Scott chooses not to make a major listing, but Michel and Stanley Gibbons do, where does that leave Scott?
So, if they are footnoted, do they get a value? I could care less if they get a minor number, such as an "a" designation after the major number, but they need to be listed somehow and given a value. |

Sometimes Scott will show a value of a footnoted stamp. The problem is that if they go by the rules for catalog listing up to today, then these imperfs should receive major catalog numbers. If they get major catalog numbers there are only 30,000 possible sets and that is very low, especially when many of the press sheets will not be broken down, and the demand for the sets all at once will push the price through the roof. |

Excellent move and good timing. I was one day too late. Those lucky few who were pre-notified by the USPS could have made a killing. I'll bet imperf panes, blocks, and pairs are going to go through the roof! I think Scott has to give them a major number and I suspect the USPS folks have no clue what that means. So, if you break up yours, put me on the list for a pane or block or pair. |

I'm trying to figure out a fair way to do this. I didn't buy the sheet to make a profit. I just wanted to make sure I got an imperf se-tenant for my album. But I expect most of site wanting an imperf se-tenant.
I just REALLY REALLY hope that these new press sheets for every single commemorative are press sheets WITH die-cuts. If they're going to double the amount of stamps I have to collect annually by making imperfs of every commemorative, 2012 is the last year I collect any US stamps. |

How can an item of a stamp issue be sold out - one month before it will be officially released??
USPS is getting terrible!
Too bad I missed the chance to buy the press sheet... |

One can always count on the USPS to pull ridiculous stunts as the BASEBALL IMPERFS look like they are turning out to be! Does'nt anyone working in the Philatelic sales remember the fiasco of the BUGS BUNNY (3138) and ROADRUNNER SYLVERSTER AND TWEETY (3205)? That was about 15 years ago. the USPS doesn't remember what it did to the philatelic community just 15 years ago. There is a lot of turnover within an organization like USPS. Whoever decided on a whim to leave the die cuts out obviously has no clue about stamp collecting. To make matters even worse for the poor collector who finds out about these imperfs, the USPS just changed its policy on press sheets according to Linn's, from a 5 limit to NO LIMITS!
The stamps are to be issued in less than 4 weeks so they must have been printed already.
I placed my order 5 days before the announced sellout date of 6/18/12. Credit card has not been hit. Let's see if they fill this order or revert back to rationing.

My card has not been deducted either...
EDIT: I just checked the USPS web site and it still says "order processing." It has said that since the day I placed my order. |

Perhaps they wait to charge the card until the item actually ships, and the issue date isn't until July 21 or so, right?

Well the USPS is back acting true to form. I just got off the phone with philatelic sales and they are taking orders again for the first press sheet. When I inquired how they were doing this I was told they printed 1500 MORE sheets. I will be calling today to cancel my entire order. |

Although the USPS should have announced this at the beginning of their promotion, the printing of 1500 more of the 4-Player MLB Press Sheets does make some sense, as it coordinates with the individual player press sheets (also being distributed in a limited edition of 2500). So now we have all 5 press sheets available in the same quantities of 2500.
I just hope that when they hit the magic number of 2500 for each of the press sheets, they don't decide to print even more! |

I agree. If they bump it up to 2500 to make it the same as the other imperfs, that makes sense. |

Monday morning about 10 am and I see the first issue is again sold out on the on line site of USPS. Let's see how long it takes for a THIRD PRINTING! |
