Welcome to the forum Cs1. I'm afraid you'll have to give us more information to go on before anyone can help you. Do you know what country the stamp is? What year? Anything? |

12 hours is not really a viable period to produce a stamp issue!
In the summer of 1932 there was a military coup in Chile. It lasted about 12 WEEKS. I'm not a Chile collector, but someone who is will be able to tell you the publication date of the 1932 O'Higgins stamp; if it is June-Sept that's probably the one. |

Could it possibly be a stamp not issued officially, but just by teh rebels? Sounds like it. This may be a kind of cinderella (so called) type of stamp, not for real postal service or for real service but not used at all.
Perhaps it is a stamp of the country that was overprinted with the info about the 'new'regime? |

I am with philb and bamra1 on this one.
I lived through the 1990 coup in Trinidad and Tobago which lasted six days. I think I can safely say that 12 hours is not sufficient time for someone to overthrow a government and then go to the printers to print off stamps. I would also say that this would NOT be a priority for any rebel group.
Or maybe it was a priority for this rebel group which is why they only lasted 12 hours?
I can just imagine the meeting that led up to the coup: Rebel Leader: Ok we have enough weapons and men to storm Parliament. Does anyone else have any other ideas? Rebel 1: We need postage stamps to legitimize our rule! Rebel 2: Here here! I second that motion.

There is always a off chance one of the rebels worked at one of the post office or someone else could have did a overprint and mailed a few letters with the overprint. These might have gotten through the mail system while the 12 hour coup was going on and have genuine cancels. Just saying but have yet to hear of this. |

Some time back...a few years I think... a fellow had a pony express cover down in his vault that he was going to show...perhaps he locked himself in the vault..we are still waiting ! |

Hi there Cs1.
I guess what the guys are saying is that we are feeling a little strung along. There is also a glaring misspelling in your topic title.
Without an image or detailed description, we are at a loss to assist you. |

Come on, guys! Do not be so skeptical! There are historical precedents of new regimes having stamp production as one of their top priorities. Below is the proof of it: a picture of Fidel and Che, a few hours after the entry of the revolutionay forces in Havana, busily preparing the first new issue of Free Cuba: |
