I was looking through some covers and found this 1st Flight Cover from Ashville NC May 13 1948, one of only 215 flown covers.. What is the value of this item? the references I have are so old (I think Christ hadn't made Corporal yet) or none listed, so I'm asking the SCF Family for an idea of the value or a reference

and the back side:

Jim Forte is selling that cover on his website for $10.00. See http://www.postalhistory.com/result...sort=2&cs=nc

Asheville to Bristol -- that's now an hour and a half drive up Interstate 26

The trip would be worth the gas. I lived in Bristol in the past and miss that landscape. Hope to go back again one day.

Most of the value would be the costs to a dealer to acquire, hold, and market it. A collector selling it might not be able to get as much as a dealer would need to ask for it. The most desireble flight covers tend to be 1930s and earlier with the earliest ones and most interesting and famous ones doing even better. 1940s and later flights tend to be modestly priced unless there is some really exciting or historical about it.
