Hi,

I seem to have a growing collection of covers from stamp sellers. There are some cool stamps attached, so I guess I'll keep them intact. This is a cool ancillary benefit of buying stamps.

I still haven't hooked up my printer, but I did unpack it. It's an HP and doesn't have a scanner. (My old one did. I guess I was thinking of that one.) Can I buy a simple scanner that people use for photos? If so, which is a good one? Or should I just buy a new printer? Obviously, a scanner is needed to play here!

Never mind. Just went to Amazon and saw a printer, scanner, copier, fax that I'll buy. It's an Epson Workforce 845. Looks good. Thanks anyway.

You can pick up a Canon all-in-one for like $29. I was looking at one this past weekend. That's all I use, except mine is a different model.

Went back to Amazon and found this:
Canon PIXMA MX330 Inkjet All-In-One Printer

However, it says it's used. Is it okay to buy a used printer?

Addendum: Where did you see the cheap one? I'm looking on Amazon & Best Buy.

2nd addendum: Found the $29 Canon on Walmart's site. Never shopped there, but I'll give it a try for that price. (I've always heard that they carry inferior imports.)

I wouldn't touch a used printer with a ten foot pole. The print head could be bad or close to going. New printers are so cheap these days that the ink refills cost more. If you plan to do a lot of scanning, you're better off with just a flatbed scanner - less awkward to use. I went with the Epson V500 which has been working like a champ with easy to use software and can scan slides and negatives if needed. I found the smaller Canon scanners to be flimsy, cheap and not very quick to use - I gave one away earlier this year. My wife has another Canon LIDE scanner as well and found it non-compatible with her newer laptop that had Windows 7. I'm going to get rid of that one too. Just another reason not to buy a used one as there might not be updated drivers to run it on a newer computer.

Thanks, Battlestamps. I suppose a scanner would do, as I already have a printer. That way, I can just hook it to my computer and bypass the printer.

I've spent hours trying to upload these. I have a new Canon scanner/printer and it will scan to its own software, which doesn't allow me to send it anywhere but email. Just figured out that I can drag it to the Desktop.I'm ready to start smoking again. MS paint will send me over the edge right now, but thanks. I'll practice on it another day.

I have been getting some really nice modern covers as well.

This was from a recent purchase mailed from the Philippines.

I have a package shipping to Tephloncinco; I jazzed it up pretty good since its heading to the Bahamas. On top of that, our PO is probably one of the smallest around my area and I had them hand cancel everything showing the town name.
