I found these two in a box that an antique dealer had, he was trying to sell the box for awhile and could not it was filed with mostly world wide stamps. I wound up getting everything he had in a plastic crate for $75 including a 1930 Scott catalogue a 5x7 book with 1800 + pages.

Can any one help ID these for me?

The stamp on the right appears to be darker and less defined than the left one. Is the one one the right a 206? and 182 for the left?

Thank you for the help!

Both are re-engraved 206. The color I see is ultramarine and dark gray blue.

Russ thank you.

Both 206? how did you determine that?

I was pretty sure about my guess on the right one but not the left. Just trying to learn.

Top picture is the original and the bottom is re-engraved.
Only 206 was re-engraved.

597596: thanks for the two great images showing the difference. If your bottom image is from the re-engraved US Scott#206 is the top image (the "original") from the 1873 US Scott#156 or the 1879 US Scott#182?

I believe the difference between #156 & #182 is only in the type of paper rather than in printing details. #156 is white wove paper and #182 is a soft porous paper. Both have the secret mark ( a small crescent in the pearl to the left of 1
