Just wondering what has changed and resulted in the near morbidity of the Auction thread?

I'm guess that not many people want or can afford to pay a monthly fee for posting auctions |

Because guys like me, who were selling a few duplicates on the side are not willing to pay the cost of becoming a sponsor in order to have auction posting privileges. Given the amount I sell, it would cost more than I net to become a sponsor! Were is $12 a year.... |

Perf14 I guess we do not have a need to know who or what killed the little auction site...i was buying and selling happily with 7 or 8 folks like myself and then I guess something unhappy happened...not transparent to me...if someone is in the profitable business of selling stamps I guess its worth it to pay the fee..i was not profiting..just passing on what I did not need !! |

LB1 I did not miss them...they were too rich for me. Well, it is a real pity...the auctions on this site were some of the best in the stamp world, now just one of the rest. IMO it was a pretty bad decision. I wonder why things always get worse instead of better? |

I have a few things that I want to list. Too busy with the end of summer etc.
I'm assuming that people other than me have piles of dupes etc that could be listed?? No? Its a bit of work but it makes the board more interesting.
As soon as I'm able to get out of my own way, I'll put some more stuff up. I hope others will do likewise.

Perphaps you folks who want to trade stuff, should not be "auctioning" stamps.
Everyone ... You want to get rid of your dupes? Why auction them? You should have put it in the for sale at a fixed price. Auction indicates you want to sell for a profit.
And people are complaining because the owners ask you to be a supporter? joe... where are you going to find a dedicated stamp site that you can sell for free? What the site owners asked was reasonable and expected. |

It is more than just the auction thread that has changed.
It is also that we can not share about our selling sites by their name or search link of any sort for them.
It is just going to take a bit of time to get use to the changes.
But unfortunately it looks like bad manners forced the changes.
If it was truly a change by management because of site costs there would not be that bitter taste to it all. IMO |

Bad Manners, excuse me, I was the one that stopped the admin from shutting down the bst SECTION. You people don't realise how close they were of turning off the light, ie no more SCF, Yes folks it was very close to waking up one morning and finding that scf was no longer on line GONE FOR EVER. I suggested to the admin maybe if the BST was open only to supporters that make a donation can list, they made the changes and theys changes have help bring in a little income to help the day to day running of the site. KGV in your past posts you mention that you cant afford to pay a donation on and on again and again. Don't you think as a eBay store owner that the privilege to post your store links should cost something after all you are trying to run a business, Its the same for the owners of this site, what you think they are getting rich off this site, each month they have to put money from there pocket to keep it running, they probably in trouble with funds like the rest of us. You may say I have bad manner I just say it like I see it. If you like to be able to generate business from SCF and links to your eBay store you have to be a supporter, Many members support this site but don't sell or link there auction, so being a supporter is not only for selling but a sign of thanks to the hard work of the admins and mods. I tired of all the cry babys on this site, any little change and everyone in a up roar. The changes have been made put on your big boys pants and move on |

irish.. Your comment must have been a wee hot headed..
Some of the people you are talking to have been on this site MUCH longer then you or I.
Remember folks the 14 day, 50 post, supporter rule is for those who are selling, buyers need only follow the 14, 50 post rule. |

Besides its 3 lousy dollars a month for this great site happy to do it. I buy and dont list things and spend countless time and dollars on this and other sites buying. Not a big deal. And im almost in the poor house! :)

I never said otherwise. I merely was explaining why the auction area has become so quite. And the fact is that for those (like myself) who are primarily hobbyists. $45 a year to sell on this site is not worth it! ( I will confess that I too was quite annoyed by a certain gentleman from overseas who NEVER posted anything other than auctions. I felt that he was a user). |
