No, it doesn't have an air mail stamp or cancel...
But I think we all can agree it was transported via air.

It is addressed to my Grandfather at his business.

That's different.

It would seem to have traveled by air, unless the
airliner happened to crash into a mail truck or
other postal vehicle.

That truck would had to have been a boat since this plane crashed in to the bay.

On a serious note three people did die out of something like 55.

However this is something I would bet not everyone does have. That would at least make it unique.

It is neat to me that I know the person it is
addressed to. It would be neat to find and
purchase a cover like this, but to know that
the mailman delivered this to my grandparents...
Priceless.

Very nice cover 411. It's especially cool that it's a family heirloom. Crash covers are rare enough without the personal connection.

If this one survived, there had to have been others,
but it's too late to canvass the neighborhood.

Beautiful cover, Ratio.

That's the sort of cover I'd need for my Americana Series collection.

Congrats on the find!

David

I wish I could take credit for a 'find'...
but this one just came right to us.

It is in a little plastic sleeve.
Very much like the thin plastic you might get your
Sunday paper in. It is almost the same size as the
letter. I am wondering if the cover was put into
that baggie by the USPS, or if someone just put it
in there sometime since it was delivered?

I keep telling my wife that some horrible looking covers are great little items in disguise.

I've decided to print off the accident report,
find the full size pics, and then put them all
together with the cover in protective pages.

Great find Ratio.

I think it's wonderful that you will put together the history of that cover. Stories like this is why I love stamps so much.

Nice cover Ratio, but when the history of a cover is located it just makes it ten fold more.
