I don't know if this is the correct forum for this question but I'll ask...

Here are photos of two "Test" Airmail letters, one sent to Quinto, Ecuador, and the other to Lime, Peru... part of a 12 letter group all sent by the same sender "E. Mika" from Ann Arbor Michigan. Looking for any history on how these came about and wonder if they have collector value.

Here is the explanation you are looking for...an interesting piece of Airmail Postal History that I had not read about before ... on a very interesting (and it would seem a very short notice) event:

That is interesting. I wonder why Pan Am had to absorb the cost of all that postage to return it though? but to their credit it was hastily announced haha..

You see these often in dealer's boxes, usually one or two at a time. What is really hard to find is a complete matched set of 28 because that is how many different destination countries which were involved. Serious collectors will the most for a matched set of 28 on number 6 sized envelopes, but if you cannot find such a set you can put together a set from various senders. The problem with that is you find these sent from many different U.S. cities and so you will wind up with a put together set that does not have matching postmarks, envelopes, handwriting, etc.
