Great postcard! As a child, I was able to see the Weiner-mobile up-close when one paid a visit to our town. |

We received Oscar Meyer Wiener whistles from the weinermobile. Yes, they were shaped like wieners. |

The postcard shows both.

Oscar Mayer (with an "a"). The reverse side of the postcard contains a typographical error. Here's a link to another famous ad that proves it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmPRHJd3uHIBy the way, the Wienermobile and Oscar Mayer Wieners are indeed spelled "Wiener" (not Weiner, as this thread suggests.) |

I remember those commercials on TV as a youngster in Montreal, picked up from the cross-the-border U.S. channels:
"My baloney has a first name, he is an O-S-C-A-R, my baloney has a last name, he is an M-A-Y-E-R"
But they never sold them in Montreal, maybe that was a good thing, LOL |

Good catch Rod! Never noticed that spelling error and so noticeable I really cant believe that 1 ! See it sure does help to post up as everyone has a different eye and just might catch something different that you might never would have noticed |

Strange isn't it? when I read, I have a voice in my head, and when I read Mayer v Meyer, (although they sound exactly the same spoken) the voice in my head sounds different. Same as when I read Gray (US) v Grey.
It wasn't a matter of picking up the difference, the sound was different. Yeah, I know I am weird :)

I don't mean to make this thread political, but did you realize that there was a connection with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile and US Rep. Paul Ryan, the Vice Presidential Candidate on the Romney/Ryan ticket? Quote: According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "One of his summer jobs in college was as an Oscar Mayer salesman in Minnesota, peddling turkey bacon and a new line called 'Lunchables' to supermarkets. He drove the Wienermobile once." [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 4/26/09] |
