I bought a cachet of a tree my father & I used to go fishing under. It's not my era of collecting but I enjoy it and cant wait until it arrives! The tree had got Dutch Elem disease and had to be cut down
Here is a little history about it. 1776 fairplay men signed a document under that tree..

Here is a picture of it:

I love things like this. I have a whole exhibit on stamps of Central New York. It's the kind of thing that makes the hobby my own.

Nice looking cover Jeff. Isn't it great when we can find an item we can relate to.

But I have to admit, you thread title made me chuckle.

"Memories from my past"

Where else would memories come from?

Great topic, but not for the first time such a great idea is in the US section !

General topics like this should always be placed in the Main Collecting Forum.

Londonbus1...just sayin' !

I_Love_Stamps:thanks for mentioning elm trees. They were an important part of my growing up years. Prior to their eradication by the disease farmers would keep a few elm trees along their field fence lines to provide shade for milk cow and beef cattle herds. The image below is not mine but I keep it in my database just to evoke pastoral memories of my youth:

Your title and the comment by Jamesw reminds me of a story that relates to my now-deceased father-in-law. He had a serious operation at a very old age and we were visiting him in the evening when the surgeon came in to check on him. He told us to stay as he would only take a minute to ask him a few questions in order to check out his "past memory". My father-in-law, who was a pretty sharp character, replied "what other kind of memory is there". The surgeon's response was "I think we can skip that".

Not sure I understand what you mean.

By putting this great idea in the US section, it means anyone with Worldwide examples or those non-US members who don't have many US examples cannot post.
And it really is a very nice idea for a thread.

In my previous post [above] I never mentioned anything about the cover, only about the topic.

Londonbus1....

It's a U.S. Cover posted in the U.S. Cover section. Maybe I don't understand what you mean?
