It is interesting that the card was printed in Germany. I wonder if German printed cards of American scenes was common.

Had no idea it would be so easy to find the answer. !909 was in the time frame of the "golden age" of the Post card industry with Germany being the center with the most telented artists and superior to other countries with printing techniques. Many American Post cards were printed in Germany. I really need to do my own homework.

Well since I'm from Northern Michigan I was wondering where Harbor Point, Michigan is. I found out it is near Harbor Springs, Mi which is about 70 miles from where I live. Harbor Point is about 80 miles. So obviously the people who mailed the card from South Bend, Indiana visited Harbor Point and got the card there.

Northern Michigan is beautiful. My best vacation ever was at Ludington State Park on the shore of Lake Michigan. I did get sick though from eating too many wild blueberries.

I am assuming that the tower on the left is the light house. It has what appears to be a church attached (or perhaps it is the other way around). Or is the light house the lower structure on the right? Any thoughts or comments?

Per the info at http://www.visitpetoskeymichigan.co...ake_michigan the lighthouse is the two story brick structure with attached square tower on the left and the smaller structure on the right is an 18' standing fog bell tower that was built in 1896.

Man I love seeing these old cards! What a beautifully done print with those warm and almost flowing greens, browns and blues! Just gorgeous- bangs, bumps and all!

Ludington State Park is my wife's favorite place to visit. She's from Grand Rapids and use to visit there a lot as a kid. She's taken me there once and swimming in the lake is nice.
