Nazi stuff is popular. Here are three very nice pieces I have to sell. Barring any reliable input from other members, it seems the best thing to do is just list them on eBay and hope the right people are looking at the time. Images disabled by Modern_Who... lest we offend.
Propaganda Post Card - "Germany, Germany over all!" Propaganda Post Card - "National Holiday 1934" Propaganda Cover - Bohemia And Moravia - "The Homeland Free!"

Nice cards Larry. I don't collect PC's so I haven't paid particular attention in a while, but I'd have to agree with Phil about the value. I'd say throw them on eBay or StampWants and see what happens. |

Just got an email that two of the three above items' listings were canceled on eBay. These people take too much offense at what is merely a piece of history. <edited - this is not a political forum, this is a stamp forum>Here's what eBay said: Quote:You recently listed the following listing: 200300491995 - GERMANY Bohemia Moravia Nazi Propaganda Cover 200300509335 - GERMANY Nazi Propaganda Post Card Hitler w/ Rally Photo Unfortunately, we had to remove your listing because the following information violates our policy: We notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled. In order to ensure that all listings are consistent with the spirit of the worldwide community, eBay members are not allowed to sell items that may be viewed as promoting or glorifying hatred, violence, and racial or religious intolerance. Items that promote organizations with these views are also prohibited. In addition, members are not allowed to sell or ship these types of items to countries where they are illegal. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/offensive.html |

On the subject of the postal cards I agree that is a little over the top to remove those as promoting hate, etc. I think that is way off the mark because it is an important part of history. Granted a sad one but none the less they are historical items.
If anything they remind us of the sacrifice we had to give to rid the world of this evil. |

eBay is a worldwide company. If the stuff is illegal in a country and your listing is available to be viewed there, they will kill it if someone reports it. It's that simple.
Marijuana is legal in some countries, does that mean if someone in one of those countries wants to list some on eBay US they should be allowed? I think not.
If you limit those listings to US only, they would stand a chance at surviving. No promises though.
Example: I sold thousands of albums for a clients years ago. One of them was Charles Manson album. Illegal in the US because a criminal is not allowed to profit from Their crime. eBay killed it because it was available on the US site. Relisted and excluded the US and it went full term. |

I haven't thought to check, but I wonder what StampWants' policy is on WWII/Nazi era material is? You might consider selling there Larry!
And, by the way, you're right on most of your rant also! |

Makes no sense, especially since they state:
Examples of items that may generally be listed: German coins and postage stamps (canceled or otherwise) from the WWII era regardless of markings.
These are items of postal stationary, and are totally the equivalent of postage stamps.
Seems like an inconsistent application of their own policies to me, expecially since I have seen these cards (and others) on there before.

Regardless of whether or not I think this is a fair policy it's pretty clear. Quote: These are items of postal stationary, and are totally the equivalent of postage stamps. They are not stamps and are not the equivalent of stamps. You can't glue a postcard to an envelope and mail it. Quote: Seems like an inconsistent application of their own policies to me, expecially since I have seen these cards (and others) on there before. Two of the three items have swastikas on them. If those were the two that were killed I would say the application of the policy was exactly as stated since the examples of items that will be removed says "Items that bear symbols of the Nazis, the SS, or the KKK,"You may have seen them on there before but that doesn't make it allowed. eBay has made it perfectly clear that they do not 100% police the site and depend on the public's help to do it. If something doesn't get reported it can very likely go the distance. |

Actually there are swastikas on all three. The first piece has them in the corners of the frame and on the flags in the crowd. |

You're right. Whoever reported them must have missed them because they're so small. |

Mod.....
If you listed them as Nazi items that alone could be the reason it was canceled. I've seen quite a few things with "politically incorrect" symbols listed but with no mention of the offending symbols.
You could try just listing them as German post cards and see if there is any reaction. |

Really weird, I never read the fine print for ebay, though I have never been a seller just a buyer. However I find it funny that under this policy it permits Hitler stamps to be sold. There is over 145 listing for Hitler Stamps. Needless to say many of those stamps have a swastika incorporated into the stamp.
After all wasn't he the person behind the Nazi's? |

A few years ago, I brought home a couple of old beat up, non functioning BB guns I had as a kid from the 1950's. I knew you couldn't list firearms but saw BB guns listed when I researched them so put them up for sale. But even though they were inoperable, eBay did the very same thing and canceled the listings. |
