I recently won a Revenue Mixture on eBay, it was delivered some time ago. The reason I bid on it was it contained some interesting right and proper 1898 U.S.A. Revenue Stamps Cancels. Wish I knew the story on how the stamp in question ended up in this mixture, guess I'll never know. No sense in guessing! Any way the stamp in question is R68C with a Pacific Mail Steam Ship Company Cancel, Great Republic. Cheers David (Stampmaster)

David, Mine telling me what is so unexpected about finding a R68C in a revenue mixture? (The point must be sitting about 5mm off the top of my head.) I went to the eBay link and it just went to a overview pg. |

dlawson281, finding a R68C was not so unexpected, it was the cancel that was so unexpected! I do not understand what you are talking about, unless it was an attempt at humor "The point must be sitting about 5mm off the top of my head"? What do you mean "I went to the eBay link and it just went to a (maybe an) overview pg"? I suppose this is supposed to mean something, please explain what exactly is an overview pg? I want to know, as I'm totally unaware of what you are talking about. Anyway the R68C as you see by the scan is shop worn, but an outstanding cancel! Enjoy your stamp collecting activities. Cheers David (Stampmaster) |

The stamp is nothing, but the cancel makes it about a $150-$200 retail item. |

I don't think he realizes that every time you type eBay in this forum, it turns it into a link to the main eBay site. I believe he thought you were posting as link to the auction when you weren't. It was the forum doing it itself. |

Mike33, oh, I see now, I'm not very computer smart, guess it comes from being an old guy.
Thanks for your help!
Don't know if you can tell from the scan or not, the stamp has a small tear. So, yes except for the cancel, the stamp was nothing!
Cheers

Thanks Brian. Reading now.
I'm not a collector of revenues but suspect I will be - my fascination with them grows as I move through different stages of my collection. |

stampmaster, congrats and TWO dancing peppers for your find! And, yes, that's a good thing in this forum. I'm a greenhorn when it comes to revenues, but I love the older engraved issues and have myself purchased several lots to begin my revenue collection.
I just posted a new topic requesting help regarding available albums for US revenues. I'm hoping someone out there makes (or made) a hingeless album for US BOB including revenues, documentaries, wine, motor vehicles, etc. |

May I ask what reference can be used to determine impact of cancellations on revenues? I just checked my Scott Specialized to see what's listed for R68C and there is no cancellation pricing. So how did stampmaster figure the steamship premium?? |
