Hi All

I've been looking for an information site on the internet which deals with the color differences in the Large U.S.A. Postage Due Stamps.

I have a number of these I've collected over the years, or received in mixtures.

Up to now, I've only dealt with cancels on the large postage due stamps.

So does any knowledgeable member know of a internet site, or Stamp Blog for Postage Due Stamps the large issues?

Thanks in Advance

Cheers

David (Stampmaster)

Sorry David, don't know of any site dealing specifically with the colors of the large postsge dues. But.... I think I have the colors correct, although what your monitor displays may be differnt than mine, so maybe this will help.

The first pair are J6, brown and pale brown.
The second pair are J19, red brown and deep red brown.
The third pair are J23, bright claret and pale claret.

littleriverphil, differences in monitors really doesn't matter, Accurately isn't as important as Function!

Totally thank you for your efforts.

This will help me, and I expect many others with these!

Cheers

I had a lot of trouble with these as well. Here's how I have my page sorted and still have doubts, especially on the 1879 2 cent

Speaking of cancels, I Think these are Boston postage due cancels. The red cancel on Mike's pale brown J7 is different than these four blade fans. I have two types, square blade and a forked blade. Four sizes of the forked blades. Can you tell me anything about these?

The clarets fluoresce yellow under UV, so they are fairly easy to spot, but the browns vs. red browns can be very tough. It usually helps to have as large a quantity as possible to make it easier to differentiate between them.

I agree Mike33, that 2 cent is not brown. Not sure about the 10 cent being brown either.
