I started collecting United States stamps in the 1960's with a Harris Liberty album which I still own. From the early 1990's until recently I did not have time to do much with stamps. Now I am partly retired, and am catching up on the hundreds of US issues during that period. I prefer stamps which have been postally used, as was their intended purpose. The subjects of the stamps (people, things, etc.) and the visual appeal are more important to me than trying to find valuable oddities.
When I was young I knew people I could trade with. If others in this community who collect recent US used are interested in trading, please let me know.
Thanks to fbissonn, eaglebub7 and Dianne Earl for the welcome messages.
I have been reading some of the active topics, still trying to get a handle on what is already here. According to the rules, I have some more posting to do before I get full privileges.
I originally chose Gabriella, one of several nicknames I had when I was growing up, as the basis for my eBay ID. When I joined SCF I decided to used the same ID here.
I have always liked Christmas stamps, and the 1968 issue (Scott #1363) featuring the Angel Gabriel from a painting by Jan van Eyck is my favorite. After I sent in a scan, Bobby131313 and 51Studebaker cropped it for me so the more interesting top section stands out better.
Welcome to the group! When you get your required # of posts in and minimum member time, I'd be happy to see if we can work up a trade of used USA stamps. That's one reason I belong to these groups - to do some trading.
