Can you bookmark an url to a thread? I know how to bookmark a link to a post, but can you bookmark an entire topic?

Yes, using the TOPIC ID which appears in the URL / address bar.

And by the way, the CAT[egory] ID links one level higher.

For example, this link includes all 6 of the US Stamp & Cover forums.
