Hi,

Is it a stamp or an envelope part (cut)?

Thank you!

CDNum.

That is an imprint. In other words part of a business envelope. Collected mainly as a complete envelope.

Believe it or not, I find those Business Reply Covers rather interesting.

The first one (Newsweek) shows a return address of New York City, but an indicia from Jamestown, NY, which although circular is not quite centered. Another oddity about the indicia is that there are seven pseudo-killer bars before the indicia and only six bars after it. A printing anomaly perhaps?

The second one (Economy Headquarters) uses the abbreviation "PA" in the return address but "PENNA" in the indicia.

The third one (Rev. Father Gallagher, T.O.R) uses a rather interesting city name "Hollidaysburgh" as the "h" on the end is seldom used and is no longer acceptable in modern times.

Merely curiosities, perhaps, but interesting nonetheless.
