What is the difference between the 2001 Santa stamp booklets US 3540d with the "large date" and the 3540g with the "small date"?

I purchased 3540d (small date). When I compare it to picture son 3540g I cannot see the difference.

The width of the large date measures 1.5mm while the small date measures 1.25mm. The large date is also somewhat taller than the small date. Will add scan of two side-by-side stamps.

A close look at the scan tells me that the large date is about 1/8 wider and 1/6 taller than the small date.

Thank you JL. I was going to answer that the large date was a bit bigger, but that would have been a 'duh' answer.
