I found this sheet, and I was pretty excited at the time. But, I've found that the stamp community doesn't really share this excitement or much interest in this stamp in sheet form....as I haven't been able to sell it or even get any bites on eBay. So could I get any suggestions as to who I should try to sell this to? I know Mystic will lowball me so hard...so idk of many other companies who would be reasonable. I also would be willing to trade with a company, but I don't know any who practice this policy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mail box or on this forum. *Note I am not soliciting this explicitly for sale here, bc not only am I in the wrong forum, but I do not yet qualify. I don't have a scan, but this is just a glimpse of the sheet.

As it is not a full sheet it is far less desirable than a full sheet would be. At best it is a plate number block with lots of extra individual examples. It's just not that marketable.
Perhaps if you host it on eBay for a long period of time (6-months to a year) maybe you will find the person who would love to buy what you have. |

I just jumped over to ebay-12 stamps listed, from 0.99 all the way up to 39.00 for one stamp-I agree a hard sell. BUT!! have you checked the Specialized cat? See what values are for a block of four, block of six the top strip--I mean you might look at it that way---IMO |

First off, it's not a Huron,it's a Hudson-Fulton. Perhaps you have been listing it incorrectly and been missing searches.
It is a 1/4 of 240 stamp full pane. It may have interest to someone working on an exhibit of this Scott #, but generally the best part of it is the plate # block of six as mentioned earlier. from what I see on Ebay they have sold for from $20 to $40. That's probably not very exciting for you.
I suggest you keep it. Keep the feeling of excitement from the day you found it and not try to put a monetary value on it. Display it proudly in a picture frame.
I just looked at it on Ebay. $745 ! I hope your kids aren't counting on selling that for their Christmas presents. |

Centering is very poor throughout the piece. Your Ebay listing shows significant gum disturbance and perforation separations. At best, value would be for the plate block and small blocks. It is not a "sheet" in collector terms. |

Could someone enlighten me? I jumped over to eBay to search for this sheet, and searched on US #372 for active and completed listings. Lots of blocks, singles etc, but not this partial pane.
How did you find it? |

Search 372 sheet, it's the first one that pops up. He has incorporated some of the comments here and raised the price to $745. |

Quote: He has incorporated some of the comments here and raised the price to $745. Very poor centering, 3 of the stamps have something that stuck to the gum. Also appears to be some perf separation. Personally I think @ $745.00 it will sit there for a long time. I also saw this which I thought was amusing. a 367, 371, & 372 which catalog at around $50 in my 2009 specialized can be yours for only $160.00 Best of luck on that sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/U-S-Stamps-...uRQfqTvmt64A |

Items like these are exactly why I believe Ebay should return to charging a listing fee based on starting price. Before sellers go all ballistic, Ebay at the same time would reduce the final value fees, to equal net no change.
Free listings only encourage overpriced items and totally fill up searches with the same stamps over and over again, wasting everybody's time. If they still feel the need to offer free listings, put conditions on them. Like the start price plus shipping must total $1 or less.
Of course I realize Ebay is about much more than stamps and what may make sense for one group of items may totally not for others.
That's why I posted on another thread that I believe it's time for the APS to enter the online stamp auction arena. They could create a true auction site for stamps. A stamp site that actually had oversight. A site where listings could be vetted by APS members. A site where anyone could buy but only APS members could sell. Using their APS # as their seller ID, not hiding behind secret IDs. A True auction site without Buy It Nows and overpriced reserves. They have the stamp store and APS stamp circuits for that.
Of course they would get a lot of backlash from their stamp dealer and stamp auction house advertisers. But if they truly want to save the hobby it's time to make some changes.
As these ideas go through my mind, I can't help but draw comparisons with what's going on today with government. Certain factions are doing pretty good, just the way things are, why change?

KC, could this vision be run as a not-for-profit venture by a 501(c)(3) entity? |

"A site where listings could be vetted by APS members..."
Not sure what that would entail, but it sounds messy. |
