I have some old unused Dennisons. Maybe I should sell them on Ebay as MNS (Mint Never Stamped)

He claimed that even the experts could be fooled, so that certificates could not be trusted.

If that is true, then isn't the question of whether a stamp is regummed or not moot? If the experts certify it as genuine, unless new info or tech comes along to provide more accuracy, then from a marketplace standpoint the stamp is genuine.

If you make a replica that is indistinguishable from the original, then for all intent and purposes from that moment it is an original.

If you are spending considerable money on a stamp, with the idea that it will maintain its investment value or even go up, why would you invest in an original gum 19 th century stamp with OG. When time to sell comes and you need a more recent cert to sell at highest value... and new cert conflicts due to new technology or perhaps just a different opinion.... bye bye investment

As a result of above, I focus my collecting on used classic 19th century US. Could care less about gum! Stamp collecting is a tough hobby ... I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible without getting ripped off. Taking gum condition and originality of gum out of equation just makes me feel more secure in my collection and it's potential to hold its value over next 30 years. I guess what I'm saying is....investing in "gum" is too high risk for me!

Others may have different threshold of risk, and perhaps a lot more talent than me in assessing gum condition and origin. Thus they enjoy buying mnh og. Nothing wrong with this.

I guess this is only important if you're in the business of buying and selling
