Is there any premium for the First couple or last couple of coil stamps from a roll with the leader still attached? Stamps in question are Scott 390, 441, and 448. All three have "500", "1c Stamps", "Rolled Lengthwise", "Perforated", "Auto-Wound" inscribed on leader.

These are US Coils and haven't found anything about them in Scott Specialized as of yet.

When I run into them I usually throw them into my album, here are a few examples...

From a supply standpoint they are not that common but from a demand standpoint not many folks collect these. As such I would say they are worth a bit of a premium but not a lot.

People do collect them ( like Studebaker above ) but not on a widespread scale. Since the inception of plate number coils in 1981 there has been a notable upswing of folks collecting not only those, but also the fancy die cuts that some of the first and last stamps on a roll exhibit.

Sometimes the perforations between the coil stamps and the coil tabs differ.

I have bought them over the years. The comment is correct, they are scarce but since the market is so small, they only bring a small premium.

I personally like them. As with paste-up pairs/strips, they demonstrate part off the coil production process. Hence, I would even prefer them over guideline/joint line pairs...fortunately for me, the market is usually the other way around.

I think the people who do want them will pay for them, the demand would be higher if it were easy to collect a bunch of them but I collect joint line pairs so I search coils alot and I dont see to many of these out there.
