The ridges on the grill points appear to be vertical rather than horizontal, so not one of the two known copies of the 15 cent black Z grill. I count a definite 17 rows vertically, and 13 rows horizontally with evidence of a 14th cut off by the perforations in the last photo. So 14 by 17 points = E grill. |

Thank you Dudley. Yes, I did not really think I was about to get rich- nice as it would be :) I can't see evidence of a 14th ridge but I will take your word for it. Cheers |

I concur with the 14x17 count. The fourteenth column is right on the edge of the perforations, but you can see the 14th point for the top row.
Would you be willing to show us the same size closeup view of the area on the left side opposite the first view? I want to rule out a split grill, recognizing that the points would probably be in the perf teeth on either side of the stamp. Muy hunch is that it will not show much on the left since this grill just barely touches the perf area - but it might be worth a look anyway. |

yes, wert, that is the design. Assuming the E Grill diagnosis is correct we are talking about Scott #91. |

For viewing the grill in the pictures the watermark fluid does not help, it interferes by cutting the sharpness of the image. I'm seeing an effect that looks like pixellation. With the stamp face down and dry, would you be willing to show us the same SIZE area as in the original picture, but on the left side of the stamp when you have it placed as in figure 1 above? |

Hi Don. That is great :) One question, do the points up/down refer to which side of the stamp the grill was applied? |

Hi, Good point, I'll add additional an illustration to show the side of the stamp. 'Points up' mean they protrude upward through face of stamp. 'Points down' mean they protrude downward through back of stamp. Don |
