Well I think this effort to find every stamp in the Roosevelt album is complete. I believe I've got every stamp represented. A couple pages are cut down from full size and three pages are represented by a collection of individual stamps cut down from the original pages. But I believe every stamp is there.

I have never seen what the 1847 and 1876 full pages look like. It seems a bit odd that they would only have two stamps each on them, but I haven't seen any evidence of anything else. So I'd be happy to be corrected, but I think every stamp is there. There are 34 images - one for each page in the album.

The page with 40P2-47P2 plus the two carriers stamps is not sharp. There are sharper images of those stamps available, but it is nice to have the full page image.

In any case, enjoy. Now I'll take on the hobby of looking for anomalies where the die used isn't the original die etc.

Here is the link to the album again so you don't have to go searching for it. This will be the last post on this unless someone finds some better images to add.

I've enjoyed this, knowing I'll never own the real thing, it was fun to play archivist with images. The one other aspect that would be interesting would be to get the correct ordering of pages. I put the regular issues in date order (except 1876), but the back of the book pages are in a random order at the moment.

Rick

As I recall there were only the two stamps for 1847 and 1876.

The two top corner stamps are Carrier stamps. Are they what you're asking about?

The Departmental Stamps were issued in 1873, concurrent with the similar appearing Banknotes. The large postage dues were first issued in 1879.

Not quite I've got a PDF of the complete Columbians (no idea where I found it) & the 1865 Newspapers can be found here

https://historical.ha.com/itm/stamp...bnail-071515

Here's the resized-compressed samples. I could mail the original Columbian pic or PDF if you know how to extract the pix

A couple of interesting articles about these

Rick,
If you would like, I would be happy to curve you out space on Stamp Smarter for the images and even any article you might like to accompany the images. This would have the benefit of loading much faster than their current location, make them searchable with all the major search engines, offer continuity with other stamp content, and tie in a fair amount of existing stamp hobbyist traffic.
I can you give control over the section or I can help if desired.
Don

Some conflicting information on this album. Perhaps not all albums had the same number of pages or stamps. Here is one popular description:

"...containing 24 heavy grey card leaves for a total of 48 pages, 34 of these pages contain the complete 308 small die proofs specially printed for these albums and representing all the non-revenue stamps from 1847-1902 including regular issues, commemoratives, special deliveries, postage dues, carriers, officials and newspaper stamps, plus six contemporaneous stamps for Cuba as a United States possession, the seven blank leaves in the back were apparently included to accommodate later issues"

34 pages - I now have 35 images

Here is one from Siegel:

"309 small die proofs in intact leatherbound Roosevelt presentation album"

308, 309? I count 313 stamps in the image I've collected

More mysteries to work on

miscounted - in fact I have 308 stamps :)

so the mystery is only the number of page - must be two that combine somewhere in there

This is a great thread. I recall one intact album being offered with an estimate around $60,000 within the last decade. It is odd perhaps nobody has imaged a full complete album. I will watch for any info to share perhaps the next offering it can be requested that the firm photograph the intact book page by page.

What a great thread.
