My opinion: An ugly #63.

Hello and,

I have gotten way exited over similar stamps.

I see something I like in almost all # 63's.

A great design, and I like that small round 8 bar grid cancel, but they're both a bit too off centered this time. :)
What is the horizontal line thru the right 1?

The #63 was my first experience with the world of philately. Bought an old album at a garage sale and that stamp caught my eye. It was the first one I tried to find on the internet when I got home. First thing that pops up, what I think is, an identical stamp that sold for $850,000.00...
Of course I didn't know what a "Z grill" was, what a blast!
Great stamp. You can easily find one in better condition though.

I've always loved this stamp design. The way the curves somehow form a rectangle is very elegant.

I had a 3c #25, off-center similarly, with a pen cancel. Very worn, and as such, really old-looking. When I was 15, that was my favorite stamp, since it looked so old. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

txstamp, I had an off-center Black Jack that I bought for $2 at Gimbel's in 1964 that played a similar role for me.

My first item that I really cherished was a block of 8 8c Franklin, Scott #414 with a Brooklyn NY precancel. Gawd I don't know how many times I looked at that. I have no idea where it is now but I doubt it was very nice according to my standards now. So, I should not have said the #63 was ugly, the owner may cherish it too.
