Based on your 2nd scan of the stamp lined up against other stamps, there is a strong possibility that your stamp is reperfed at the right. My statement assumes that the far right perforations are not from a reperforated stamp, but from a known Columbian stamp that is not reperforated.

No. Don used graphics software to cut the top perfs off of the stamp shown and then place the top perfs along the left, bottom and right to see if the perforation spacing matched. The right side therefore differs to some degree from the other three sides indicating a likely reperf.

Careful with that.

Ken Shaib (Sp?) has warned that the top and bottom perfs are not to be compared to the sides. It has to do with unidirectional paper mesh; i.e. that paper shrinkage can give false alignment readings.

For this stamp compare right to left, if you can first rule out reperfing on the left side. Probably that will mean importing an outside reference, although the left side alignment compared to top looks pretty good. Much better than the right.

I believe Ken Scrail is the man credited with the idea of cropping opposite side perfs as a quick test.

I would add that the image I posted is relative. In other words, both side perfs are being compared to the same top perf, so if one side was off then so should the other side. They are not, hence one of the side perfs is suspect.

I don't like either side myself.

It's a common enough and valuable enough stamp that you should be able to get one either with a cert or under extension for one without much trouble. .

Same thoughts here... At initial glance, the top perfs have threads and hazed... the bottom ones looked too crisp and round.. that sounded my alarm..

Oh.. the asking price was $75... So i'll pass
