I see nothing of value, many of the stamps have conditions issues. The bidding history indicates two inexperienced hobbyists. Don |

Stamperix, I think you are correct. Rven 5 or 10 Euro's would be high for this lot.

Yes, nothing worth much. Maybe this is a really clumsy example of shill bidding? |

Thank you all for your answers. So I was not wrong in not buying :). I even asked the seller in advance if he received any questions from the bidders about a certain stamp (for better photos or anything like this). But he didn't get any emails.
Anyway, I hope this has been a funny auction for everyone here.

It all depends on where it is sold. Recently a U.S. # 596 was discovered and sold in a stamp auction house for a lot of money. To the uninitiated, any 1 cent green Franklin stamp looks like it so that it could attract some attention to it. Thus, it is no coincidence that the seller has a large picture showing two stamps on it that look like # 596 stamps. Maybe the new collector buyer is thinking of a potential jackpot since some stamps look like the valuable variety but are not. |

Which is probably why the bidder didn't ask any questions. Why tip off the seller that you've made the "find of the year"? |

Hi - do you remember the auction house? This would be interesting for me, just to know how stamps can be sold here in Germany. -- by the way here you can get at least the 594 and quite cheap :). This seller tries this for weeks in different platforms. http://www.ebay.de/itm/USA-Briefmar...AOSwjDZYg5Up |

Correct, Harmer-Schau is run by Chris Harmer and Kurt Schau with two locations, Petaluma, California and Portland, Oregon. |

Close. Kurt retired and Rusty Shoaf took his place, and the Portland office was closed, but they just held an auction at Pipex in Portland. |
