Seeking Advice/Comments On Collection Organization And Storage

I think the black areas are simply the design on the paper, rather than mounts. Various companies, including Safe, make this kind of sheet, and I haven't encountered one with this kind of effect - and the stamps appear fine, or are has the gum been affected?

I have used these plastic stamp sleeves in the past. They are basically different sizes which are similar to mounts. The claim is that they are safe for stamps, but I am unsure if that is true.


Your feedback is appreciated as I have many stamps in these holders.

I have no history of the page in question, whether it was left in the sun etc.
It was how it came in "hagner style" page, in an auction lot.

Thanks for the pdf on plastics. I remember reading it before and it still amazes me that there really is no clear cut answer.

The Lindner page definitely has changed color. It is in an album I am thinking about purchasing but more pages have varied discoloration.

My gut tells me very humid and possibly hot climate.

I have no way of knowing if the stamps have been affected or not.

I am very tempted to pass on this album.

Yes Dutchman, it is a tough call.
Generally speaking, stamps kept in a stable environment, no large divergence of temperatures will seem to do OK.

Light and dust are the biggest enemy, (use slip cases)

I have my entire collection in Plastic sleeves, and I have no idea how safe,
I spent some time calling Plastic companies in Australia, for a price to test, and didn't get any replies.

The plastic test, I saw online, 2 products of Lindner failed, but the test was over 30 days open to light. Conversely, I rarely see damaged plastics in the items I see at local auctions. I have Stamp sets in what appears to be Polypropylene displays from shops, from the 1950's 1960's and they are fine.
