Hi! For the serious collector, its not just the stamp, it's the postdate! I just love postdates! it gives an actual date on a stamp when it went around

Heres my favorite that went around last April 18th year 1959, its an old old stamp but if you orient it you'l see the post date!

Here is one that flew into the Philippines last August 12th 1993, it's there on the postdate!

Hope you can post your postdates! Thanks

Very nice Nic, Generally in the US we refer to them as postmarks or cancellations. But it is a very interesting area of stamp collecting!

Some postmark collectors will take a calender or copy of one and try to find a stamp regardless of year with the matching month & day to place on the appropiate space. For instance, with your 1st stamp you would place it on April 18 and the 2nd would be on August 12th. You would only have 12 pages for this type of postmark album, but the hard part is finding all 366 days (including leap day February 29th). It would be quite an accomplishment and you can use any stamp you chose.

What a great idea !!
One could even do it for the same stamp...quite a challenge !

I could take my favourite Flag stamp, for example, then take last years calendar and fill it with Flags.

You guys are good.
It would take me a lifetime...wonder how long I have left ??

Londonbus1...off to find out

I think it would have to be Flag and Liberty. I have loads of them already.
Here's a greater challenge still.
Fill NEXT YEARS calender BEFORE the year end !

Londonbus1...How about it Nic?

You could do this in a year by going down to your local 24 hour full service post office and mail them to yourself each day. With the same or all differents stamps and/or stationary.

Cool idea!
Yes I've actually have a 24 hour full service PO nearby.

But that's cheating !! What about the fun of the hunt, the fun of the chase, the fun of the finding.

Just think, we could be asking for certain dates here at the forum;
Attn: May 16th and October 4th wanted. Willing to exchange with Dec 25th !!

Mike,
Will you still have a 24 hour window by this time next year? That is a loaded question. I thought all of those windows were closed, except for Chicago.

I think more of the challenge would be from finding the dated stamps you need, not making your own. That takes the thrill of the hunt and fun out of it. Then again, you would be almost guaranteed to get a good socked on the nose hand cancel on the stamp by taking it to your postal window...if they cooperate.

Not at major airport posts, the one at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport never closes and you can walk up any time, but the December holidays
there can be a heck of a wait.
Londonbus, the planning of it is the hunt. If I really would do this I'd be using the most current available stamp, envelope or post card. All this planning would be 365/6 days with a different stamp etc each day no dups.

PS: If anyone is interested I could possibly send out letters etc on X-mas
to cover that date. Let me know and remember this thread.
