Quote: I have 60+ copies of this stamp and only TWO legible datestamps ! That's what I was afraid of. I've got way too much stress in my life already. I don't need more. |

This is one of my favorite, the stamp got ready to leave Singapore April 16th 1993 by plane, Its a South East asian sea crab, common here, about 7 inches width, normal grey and white splotches, becomes red when cooked, fine dining |

Nice cover Triggersmob! Nic, nice crab stamp an cancel! I have just been getting interested in the postmarks / dates. It's neat! I like railway post offices (I like trains) so here is a postmark from the back of an envelope from Nova Scotia, Canada to New York in 1895. They worked on Christmas Day in 1895! Doug |

1895! that piece of paper, together with the stamp, is more than a century old! Doug that is awesome
Which makes me wonder, when did this postmarks actually started? that date I think would be the oldest of all! |

Thanks Nic. That was not really mine. It was in my hands for a few weeks as I was selling it for a friend. I got all the headaches of eBay and he got the money, ha. I see neat things through him once in a while. I liked that cover and the postmarks as it is near where I live and grew up and my parents grew up, and grandparents. Very historical for me.
Londonbus1, Wow, I like those Bishop marks. I copied it to my Windoes desktop and zoomed in on it and I can just make out the anmes of the places that way. Neat!

Thanks Londonbus1... Aug 2,1661 that year reads backwards same as forwards, easy to remember, hard to forget! Encyclopedia Britannica lists that the very first topics on thematic stamp collection based on countries are stamps from Israel and Vatican! Thats a nice theme to start

Nic, eBay or DelCampe or StampWants or others are OK when you learn to search (advanced search) and are able to narrow down the results of what you are searching for.
Or just look at one country's listings and ignore what you don't really want right now. For most things, something similar comes up for sale after a while.
I limit what I want, but then it is usually so limited that I have to look worldwide to find anything. Or I am searching for the wrong words sometimes.
Different countries, different languages, different interests, it is all interesting to me!

I do agree, There is a site referred by Laswabie that you can go see the stamps issued on your birthyear, had a great time with that, and only discovered then at eBay that five of my stamps were issued on my birthyear, great discovery! Just cant insert the link in, dont know how to do that yet... |
