I remember that when I was in Ireland, all of the street letterboxes were the English type, right down to the Royal Cypher of the reigning monarch when the box was installed or manufactured, except the whole box was painted green. I guess it was very economical of the Irish that that's all they needed to make these "foreign" boxes 'theirs'.
