Went to the Minnesota State Fair, the countries largest state fair, today and went to the Hobby & Crafts Building. I saw the winner in the Philatelic Division. A person submitted a Columbian Expo Exhibit
with all the 1893 Columbians, all the Columbian cut squares, and the later Columbian Souvenir Sheets of 1992. I've never seen them all together at one time. It was well arranged with additional documentation by the presenter. Very cool! A Wow!

I've thought about doing something myself on the precancels of Minnesota, but I still have a dozen to locate out of the 668 there.

Did you take any pictures? That would be neat to see. I had seen an exhibit a couple years ago in Bloomington @ Cornpex for the WCE post/postal cards. I do have a set of the envelopes, some cut squares, and the 1992 S/S set. I could also throw in my admission ticket collection and a couple of half dollars.

No pics. Did not believe I'd see anything that cool. It was placed inside an inclosed display case with many of the other catagoty winners. It was 8ft back from the dsplay window. You would not have been able to see much.

Gee, was there an armed guard there too. That sounds like when I saw the Jenny Invert, Hawaiin Missionary Grinnells, etc. at Washington 2006.

No armed guards. However, if 'Minnesota nice' holds true that Columbian collector will likely find, when he or she picks it up the display, an "Inverted Jenny" now included within the set!

That would be better than a blue ribbon.

Never been to the Minnesota State Fair. Oh, sure, I've wanted to go, but never seem to find the time.

Now I have a good reason to go (other than the rides, foods, and interesting exhibits). Didn't realize it was that big, though. I would have thought the Texas State Fair was bigger.

Bigger is a matter of numbers. Minnesota State Fair draws 1.7 mil. over 12 days, while the Texas draws 3Mil yes that is more, but they streach it out over 30 days.
The per day attendence is greater in Minnesota.
