WOW! You don't suppose all these examples are in the hands of the author? More likely photos from decades worth of auction catalogs, but you never know.

Wow Tom

What a great article. I always enjoy the cancellations on stamps as much as the stamps themselves. Now I know a bit more about them (actually a lot more than I knew before). I'm going to take the time to go back to my early Americans. I know I've seen some of these types in my collection.

Thanks again I always appreciate and learn from these types of posts.

Dianne

Hello folks......

Glad you like it......

Tom.......99% of the time I dream in color.....I've been dreaming of stamps like this most of my life, but it's not often that we get to see a bunch this nice with an explaination of how and why these cancels exist.

Modern.....it would not surprise me to find out that every stamp pictured here is from the writers personal collection. From other articles, it seems like most of the officers of the club have collections that most collectors can only dream about.

Dianne....collecting early fancy cancels is something a lot of collectors enjoy, some are quite expensive but many can be found that will fit into just about any budget.
