While snipping some kiloware, I came across this interesting Australian cancel. Cumnock is a very small town, it's probably difficult to come across cancellations from there. When I snooped online, I found this interesting tidbit - Cumnock was the first town in Australia to attempt to rebuild its population through the offer of rental farmhouses for the cost of $1 per week.

The stamp looks like it can be saved, the blunt perfs on the side are just folded over on to themselves.

Ryan

Ryan, that is a cracker. Cumnock is only about 90kms from where I live and is a tiny village. Well spotted!

$1 rent for a farmhouse, sound good, but don't sell up and move to one of the towns offering this "bargain", until you have read this. http://au.todaytonight.yahoo.com/ar.../1-rent-rage
it featured on the news only this week.

Just for the knowledge of our overseas members, that car on the stamp, a 48-215, was the first car built by GHM (Holden) in Australia.
