Unable to post images at the moment. I have 7-8 Hrvatska stamps circa 1993 that are not listed in my Gibbons, Is there something obvious that I may be overlooking? this seems rather curious, they appear normal postal stamps, maybe a few obligatory's

Hi Rod. Give us an idea what the "pictures" represent - we can talk about scans later. Incidentally, wasn't there some other gin-joint that use Hrvatska around that time?

Rod-
Since you say they look to be normal postage stamps, I'm assuming they aren't the Red Cross issues. Pretty much all of the other Croatia issues in the 1990's that show up in Scott also include "Republika" in addition to Hrvatska. Yours?

I think you'll find that they are all charity stamps. If you google "croatian charity stamps" or "charity stamps of the republic of croatia" there is a nice listing by year, at the site starting www.inet.hr ... |

Hi Rod222. Following a point I mentioned earlier: Whenever I am sorting stamps, for some reason I always get undecided between Croatia and Yugoslavia whenever I meet the word hrvatska. Now that you brought it to the fore I checked my Scott a little more carefully and I just can't understand where this mental confusion started - there is absolutely no room for confusion between the two countries' stamps. And yet for all these years I have been seeing ghosts in broad daylight. Makes me wonder where and how it all started. |

Thanks 22 crows, I found one, an obligatory charity just not listed in Gibbons. I'll check the others. Perhaps Gibbons was uncertain of their status at time of printing of the catalogue Tony, this type of thing happens a lot in life, for years I called the race car "Alfa Roe mee oo" rather than "Alfa Roe May O" It because people don't pick you up on these things. |

Early Yugoslavia was the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, so the first several stamps included the word "Hrvata" in the lengthy name. I can't think of a Yugoslavia stamp that includes Hrvatska, but there could well be one, and in any event Hrvata is pretty close. |

There are 2 classes of Croatian charity stamps: obligatory stamps (which are included in SG), and unobligatory stamps(not included in SG). The ones you are showing are unobligatory stamps. Check the reference I gave earlier. |
