Howdy Everyone,

I had alot of fun doing the "Guess the Cherry Blossoms" contest and so I figured I would do one more contest. I have 5 stamped covers that have the Groot Constantia stamp from South Africa on them and I have covered up all of the postage on these covers. The first person to guess the correct total number Groot Constantia that is on these 5 covers will Win these 5 covers. This is what the Groot Constantia stamp looks like.

Here's the 5 covers.

Good luck to all and let the guessing begin!
Lucky

What?! Where's Kramer's stamp?

Bee See, by the way, I received your latest cover creation. Nice! I keep forgetting to say Thank you, so Thank You.

I think I misspelled Constantia up there.

Is not Afrikaans derived from Dutch as in from Holland or the Netherlands?

Perhaps Constantine's Grotto ?
You see what trouble one gets into without using Google.

And you wonder how there is world peace at all anywhere with people like me misinterpreting stuff all over the place?

Since I can not send a link yet- I'll use Phil's ID -- here's the answer what Constantia means: http://web.me.com/roblepair/zuid-af...iles/rss.xml. In the netherlands tyere are many music societies with the name Constantia -- it means -- always there-. Jopie

Puzzler, didn't the "Kramer Rouge" issue stamps in Cambodia in the 1970's inscribed "Republique Kramer" ?

Glad you got the Olympic mittens cover - you did send a personal email.

Thank you Jopie. It is nice to see you posting once more.

On my computer anyway, your link was in Dutch I think, great pictures though!

I finally looked on Wikipedia and they have an article there also:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groot_Constantia

Groot is Dutch or Afrikaans for Great in English.
Constantia is, as Jopie also said, 'always there' or perhaps (my attempt) constant(?_.

It was and is a great big farm and vineyard estate and the part on the stamp, the manor house of the estate, is (after being restored) part of the South African Cultural History Museum.

Famous for Constantia desert wine.

Small stamp for a big place.

Bee See, thanks, but are you speaking Samoan or Tuvaluan (if you are please teach me!) or does one have altered perceptions of the world once one moves to the sunny growing climes of British Columbia?

Kramer Rouge indeed.

He wasn't at all pink coloured.

My apologies to lucky and all for disrupting this (once) great thread.

Bee See just can't help himself. It's too much sun I think. And not enough for me! Maybe we can meet in the middle and go fishing one day?

The actual Groot Constantia web site:
(.co.za = .(country).(Zuid Afrika = South Africa)
http://www.grootconstantia.co.za/11/overview

Borrowed from their web site:

Lucky, do we get a bottle of wine plus the envelopes??

(edited to correct spelling.)

Right on Puzzler, but it has been mostly drizzle the past few days interrupted by some sun, and it bit cool. I may need those mittens back!

So who is the lucky winner, Lucky?
