Bah humbug Real men, with excess testosterone coursing through veins, don't eat quiche, and don't collect pretty stamps. Real men like ugly stamps |

In my opinion the stamp is definitely not ugly. It is interesting. What does the text say? Obviously it is in Arabic so it must be from a predominantly Moslem section of the country. The denomination is also especially interesting, isn't it? Who knows what it is exactly? Lizardly halflizard

Quote: The denomination is also especially interesting, isn't it? Who knows what it is exactly The denomination (in the 4 corners) is called an inukshuk, it is an Inuit word. It was the symbol used for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and is worth about 800 million dollars. |

Inukshuk, that's neat. What's it mean or stand for, the symbol? It looks like a person giving you a big bear hig or maybe saying I am part of the world too or something like that.
What stamp is Tony Vella's anyway? Indian States? Or Arabic it does look like somewhat? That symbol is being used as number or numeral isn't it? Fascinating how the same symbols are used around the world sometimes.

@puzzler I put up my ugly stamp (Saudi Arabia, incidentally) to get at tonymacg. We are both nuts about Indian stamps and some of them are less than lovely, I'll be the first to admit. So when it came to ugly I wanted to do him one better - never thought someone would find it attractive. Sorry! Tony expects it from me; I'm a Barwani afficionado after all. |

Pity all this was going on while I was sleeping the sleep of the just And yes, Tony, it's true: Saudi Arabia and some other places (Nepal and Tibet spring to mind) made sterling efforts at being ugly, but nothing beats the real (Barwani) thing |

My interpretation of the values in the four corners of the non-ugly stamp is "one eighth," Now the question is what unit of currency is involved. Lizardly, halflizard
If you count cows by counting the feet and dividing by four, think of how much fun you can have with centapedes. |
